I'm afraid China, Trump, May, The ECB, The BoW, Marmite and just about everything else is going to have to wait...
If you're reading this it means I'm doing fine after a coronary bypass operation yesterday. I'm afraid it means no more Porridge for at least a month as I recuperate and come back better than ever before!
I got the shock of my life last week when the doctors pronounced the pain in my chest I've had the last month or so and shortness of breath was not indigestion, but a serious issue of heart disease.
On Thursday, the surgeons put a camera on a line up my arm, down my chest and into my heart. They were hoping it might mean a simple stent to unblock an artery. Unfortunately they discovered a right ugly mess. My heart is in great shape, but the arteries that supplied it were in bits with a succession of blockages.
We don't know what caused the crisis - there was minor calcification back when I got a full MOT and check-out in February, but it got worse very quickly. In June I found myself struggling to do my 30 lengths at speed in the pool. By last week I was struggling to walk to the Tube in the morning. Bit scary in fact..
But the fact you're reading this means yesterday they whipped open my chest, plucked out my heart, ripped out some spare tubing from my leg, and put it all back together again.
While I'm out can you make sure your doing lots of extra business with Mint. Jamie and Prodi are on the desk!
See you all soon enough....
