Russell Investments says it has appointed two people to its
globally-located fixed income team.
Adam Smears joins from Old Mutual Global Investors as head
of fixed income research and Kevin Dockrell joins from Towers Watson as fixed
income research analyst. Both will be based in London and Smears will head up a
nine-strong team, including Dockrell, based across London, New York, Toronto,
Seattle and Sydney.
Smears has 15 years of research and portfolio management
experience and has spent the last eight at Old Mutual Global Investors
(formerly Skandia Investment Group), most recently as head of investment
research. Dockrell’s four years at Towers Watson saw him in fixed income
research and investment consultant roles covering Sterling and European fixed
income, EMD, global credit and multi-strategy alternative credit.
Russell’s investment research and portfolio management
operates under an international structure, and develops investment solutions
for different markets based on demand. Over the past year, assets under
management in Russell’s fixed income products has risen by 15% and 16 new products
have been launched across different regions to meet a world-wide growth in
demand.
Jeff Hussey, chief investment officer for fixed income,
commented:
“We continue to see growing demand for our fixed income
products as investors around the world look to weave in strategies as part of
their multi asset portfolio design. To best support this demand, it is
increasingly important that our team structure takes a truly international
approach – and we have fixed income researchers and portfolio managers
throughout North America, Europe and Asia Pacific.”
