Standard Chartered reports that it has appointed Gautam Jain as the new global head of client access for transaction banking. Gautam will be based in Singapore and will be a member of the bank’s transaction banking leadership team, reporting to Karen Fawcett, group head of transaction banking, wholesale banking.
Jain will be responsible for driving the bank’s client access strategy across the bank. gautam will also lead the channel management and network management teams and work with the bank’s global head of service & solution delivery who will oversee the bank’s transaction banking services and solution delivery teams. The latter role will be announced shortly, we are promised.
Jain has 17 years of experience in managing technology, business and audit functions including product and programme management as well as large multi-cultural teams and end-users. He has held various leadership positions with Barclays Bank, HSBC and Citibank. Prior to joining Standard Chartered Bank, he was the head of IT for global commercial products for Barclays Bank in London.
While I am obviously delighted to be able to help in passing on this news, I have one simple question: what IS client access, transaction banking? I've asked the bank to explain, and will let you know when I have an answer.
PS Here is the layman's terms plain English explanation direct from the horse's mouth.
“ The solution delivery team is the single point of contact for the client post-mandate. It is responsible for coordinating all the activities required to deliver the solution to the client.
“The network management group is responsible for the establishment and management of the bank’s relationships with third-party financial service providers, including sub-custodians, cash management partner banks and correspondent banks.”
